A recovering economics professor, Steve Slavin earned a living writing math and economics books. But after taking a vow of extreme poverty, he has written three volumes of short stories.
Steve Slavin was born in Brooklyn’s Madison Park Hospital, just across the street from where Bernie Sanders grew up. They ran together on the James Madison High School track team, and were college roommates.
Bernie left New York before he was twenty, and rarely looked back. Steve not only stayed, but fully embraced the life of the city. And since all fiction is said to be autobiography, it could be said that these stories are based on actual events. After all – I was there.
This is a collection of love letters to my city. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I did writing them.
